See how the course works

  1. Learn in a clear sequence

Short, focused lessons move from core biology into the choices that show up in daily life.

  2. Practice the connection

Knowledge checks and reflections help turn a useful idea into something you can recognize again.

  3. Keep what you want to return to

Notes and key terms stay attached to the lesson that prompted them, so picking the course back up starts where you left it.

The connected view

One decision rarely has one cause.

Diabetes is often taught as separate lists: foods, numbers, medications, warnings. Diabetes Foundations shows where those lists meet, so a reading or symptom has useful context instead of standing alone.

  1. Module 1: What diabetes is

The biology underneath the diagnosis, insulin supply and response, the types, the symptoms, and the risk factors that newly-diagnosed readers want grounded first.

  2. Module 2: How the body uses glucose

Glucose, insulin, the pancreas, and the hormones that move blood sugar. This is the mechanism layer that Module 1 (What diabetes is) introduces and that every module from Module 3 (Monitoring your blood sugar) onward reaches back into.

Clinical grounding

Built as a Berine product. Grounded in diabetes education.

The course’s clinical direction comes from Tina Alexander RDN, CDCES. Her work helps keep the lessons clear, practical, and grounded in real diabetes education.

“We’re not educating on a diagnosis. We’re taking care of the entire person.”
